Wot No Buses? Canning Town Urgent Petition Against Bus Diversions
Residents on the Keir Hardie estate in Canning Town are furious. Road works at Munday Road have resulted in the diversion of the 147 and 241 buses around the outskirts of the neighbourhood, leaving elderly and disabled people without public transport off and onto the estate.
"Alternative routes should have been found or other arrangements made," said Cllr Denise Stafford, Christian Peoples Alliance councillor for Canning Town South.
"This is upsetting less-mobile people who feel trapped at home and unable to get to the shops or visit family and friends." Angry local resident Linda Monk called the Christian Peoples Alliance team who contacted London Buses. CPA also produced a petition for her which many local people have signed.

"We've been told these bus diversions will go on through September," said Cllr Stafford. "Something must be done urgently to provide for those who are unable to walk far and cannot afford expensive taxis."
